You build it. We make it real.

Most Ethiopia trips are assembled from blog posts, forums, and nine WhatsApp threads. Here's how it works instead:

01

Explore

Browse destinations the way you shop anywhere — with a curated shelf of 3–6 vetted hotels per tier and hand-picked experiences. No infinite listing walls.

02

Build

Add hotels, experiences, and transport to your Trip Builder. It's a cart — except travel items have dates, places, and dependencies, so your cart is a draft trip.

03

Analyze

Our AI reviews what you built against real Ethiopia logistics: routing, seasons, altitude, flight fare logic, advisories. It fills gaps and prices the whole thing — your choices respected.

04

Book

Request to book. Every item is confirmed with suppliers within 24 hours — or you're fully refunded. ~30% deposit now, balance 30 days before travel.

Trust is the product

Ethiopia is a high-anxiety destination with world-class assets. We win by being the most honest operator in the market — here's the apparatus.

Vetted suppliers only

Every hotel, guide, and driver on the platform holds a contract with us: license checked, references taken, insurance verified where it applies.

24-hour confirmation SLA

Real-time availability doesn't exist in Ethiopia yet, and we won't pretend it does. Instead: white-glove confirmation within 24 hours, in writing, or your money back.

Advisory-aware by design

We monitor security advisories, weather, and road status daily. Itineraries route around affected regions, and our cancellation terms flex with conditions — not against you.

One accountable seller

You buy from MivonTravel, not from nine different operators over WhatsApp. We own the pricing, the quality, and the fix when something changes.

Travelers who went

Real trips, arranged end to end — here's how they came back talking about it.

★★★★★

Lalibela at dawn was worth the whole journey. Every detail was handled before I thought to ask — halal meals arranged everywhere, a guide who knew when to explain and when to let the place speak, and WhatsApp replies within minutes. My mother is already planning her trip.

★★★★

Superbly run trek — kit list was spot on, the cook produced miracles at 3,600 metres, and the geladas are everything they promise. Docked one star only because the drive in from Gondar is long, which, to be fair, they told me in writing beforehand. That honesty is why I'd book again.

London, UK · Simien Mountains Trek · October 2025

★★★★★

I almost didn't come because of the headlines. They walked me through the actual advisories region by region, moved one leg of the trip without being asked, and the driver was tracking my delayed flight before I'd even landed. Felt looked after the entire time — and Danakil is another planet.

★★★★★

I grew up on my father's stories of Lalibela but had never been. MivonTravel built a trip that worked for three generations — my kids, my parents — and even arranged the visit to my grandmother's village near Bahir Dar. We cried, we ate, we danced. This company understands what going home means.

Un voyage de noces parfait. The concierge replied in French every time, the lodges were beautifully chosen, and the picnic above the Simien escarpment was the single best moment of our year. Merci — nous reviendrons.

Ethiopia Visa Requirements (2026)

Yes — almost all nationalities need a visa for Ethiopia, and almost everyone should get the official e-visa online at evisa.gov.et before flying. Tourist e-visas (30 or 90 days, single entry) are typically issued within 1–3 business days and cost around US$82 for 30 days. Kenyan and Djiboutian citizens are among the few exempt; African Union laissez-passer holders have separate rules. Always apply on the official government site — copycat visa sites overcharge for the same document.

Is Ethiopia Safe to Visit Right Now?

Parts of Ethiopia are genuinely safe and rewarding to visit right now; other regions carry government travel advisories against all travel. Safety in Ethiopia is regional, not national — Addis Ababa, the southern circuits (Bale, Sidama coffee country), and eastern Harar have operated normally for years, while some northern and border areas fluctuate. Any honest answer names regions, cites current advisories, and is dated. Ours is below, and monitoring advisories is literally our product.

Best Time to Visit Ethiopia

October to March is Ethiopia's prime season: dry, sunny highland days, clear mountain views, and the great festivals — Meskel (late September), Genna/Ethiopian Christmas (7 January), and Timkat/Epiphany (19 January). The main rains (kiremt) run June to September, making July–August the only months we'd steer most first-timers away from — though the countryside is at its greenest in October right after the rains.

Ethiopia Vaccinations & Yellow Fever Rules

Ethiopia requires a yellow fever certificate only if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission — not for direct arrivals from Europe, North America, or the Gulf. Beyond that, the standard recommendations are routine boosters plus hepatitis A and typhoid; malaria prophylaxis matters only for lowland areas, as Addis and the highland circuits are essentially malaria-free. See a travel clinic 4–6 weeks before departure — this page is orientation, not medical advice.

What an Ethiopia Trip Actually Costs (2026)

A well-run 10-day Ethiopia trip costs roughly US$1,500–3,000 per person on the ground — mid-range hotels, internal flights, private guides and drivers — before your international flight (typically $600–1,200 from Europe, $900–1,600 from North America). Backpackers can do it on $40–60/day; a luxury lodge circuit runs $400–600/day. Here is the honest line-item breakdown nobody else publishes.

Addis Ababa Layover Guide — Can I Leave the Airport?

Yes — with a layover of 6 hours or more at Addis Bole you can realistically leave the airport, and it's one of the best layover cities in the world to do it: eligible passengers can get a transit visa, and Ethiopian Airlines has historically provided free hotel accommodation for long connections on its own tickets. Six hours is enough for a coffee ceremony and a museum; eight or more opens up the city; overnight layovers can include a cultural dinner and a real bed.
